Cancer Recovery Programs
Yoga is a natural self-care program that combines breathing exercises, body postures, relaxation and meditation. Medical studies are proving time and time again that such yoga-derived methods can elicit the relaxation response in the nervous system. Your main physiological and psychological systems benefit significantly from this self-induced calm state. Our cancer care programs are designed to meet the individual needs of each patient and help patients learn self care tools to help manage pain and assist in recovery.
Yoga for Breast Cancer Recovery
Women living with, through, and beyond a breast cancer diagnosis may find Yoga for Breast Cancer Recovery to be an especially effective way to regain a sense of serenity, security, and promise in their bodies.

Cancer Recovery Program
This program is designed for people with cancer pre, during, and post-treatment. It includes breathing techniques; relaxation and mental imagery; conscious use of the mind and imagination; self-talk and meditation; creative movement and expression; and movement through sequences and postures. It is designed to treat the person as an individual and a whole system: mind, body, and spirit. Our community class may also act as a support group, and pull the person out of the cocoon they may have placed themselves in upon the discovery that they have cancer. We will help them in the process of loving themselves back to life, after a time when they may feel as if their bodies have betrayed them.
These programs can be taken in pre-registered classes or private sessions. Call today for more info. 260-420-YOGA (9642)

Creating Hope
Creating Hope- Art Program for Cancer Survivors
Tuesdays 11-2pm, Lutheran Hospital Cancer Resource Center
From sketches of cave bears to children's drawings on the refrigerator, art has always been an integral part of humanity. Art provides an outlet for our inner thoughts and feelings while giving us a sense of control over our surroundings. Those with a serious illness have often found that art allows them to express themselves in nonverbal ways. This often allows strong emotions to be released in a way better than words.
The Lutheran Hospital Cancer Resource Center will be offering the Creating Hope art program beginning on Tuesday, February 5th in the Cancer Center lobby. Kachmann Mind Body Institute art facilitator Lean Gehm will be offering the Creating Hope art program to any cancer survivors at no charge. Stop by and enjoy working on an art project with Lean. You can stay however long you desire. You will also receive art supplies to take home. Creating Hope will be available Tuesdays from the hours of 11-2pm each week through April. If you have questions feel free to call the nurses in the Cancer Resource Center 435-7959.
