Kandi Tom-Dunwiddie
Group Fitness Instructor
Kandi is originally from Warsaw , Indiana and has her education in computer science and graphic design. She currently lives in Huntington with her husband of six years, Mark, and their two children, Peyton, age 3 and Kendall, age 2. After having her two children, Kandi went back to work as a Creative Director at a Fort Wayne ad agency.
In January of 2009, Kandi made a life changing decision to get healthy. She started a weight-loss group at her church. The idea was to work out together, weigh-in weekly and keep each other accountable. The plan worked and she started losing weight. Wanting more of a challenge, she attended a Zumba class that her sister, Katye was teaching in Warsaw . Kandi tried it and fell in love. It was such a great work-out and a lot of fun. She researched and located Zumba classes close to home and started attendingtwo times a week. She immediately saw results, both in her weight loss and in her energy level. Soon she was working outfour orfive times a week, taking Zumba classes, Pilates and Body Sculpting. Her efforts resulted in an 90+ pound weight loss, increased energy and a better quality of life.
With a background as a Cheerleading Coach for 6 years, she knew that her love for Zumba would take her to the next step - instructing. She received her Zumba certification earlier this year and began teaching immediately. She loves telling people about her journey to better health. 85lbs later, she is still working towards her goals of continued weight-loss and she is looking forward to getting her group fitness certification so that she can instruct other classes.
Exercise is not an indulgence. It's not selfish. It's not your priority. Exercise is the means to enjoy the things that are your priorities.
